How it All Began:
Swapping is the new shopping revolution. Yet I saw that no swap website offered a swap service - something that would allow the customer to reap all the benefits of the swap without any of the hassle. Having traded in previously-owned designer and vintage clothing for 20 years, I developed the concept of a designer and vintage frock swap service.
My name is Charlotte Davies and, like me, many women have a wardrobe full of good-as-new frocks that have only been worn once or twice. These dresses are too good to throw away but to sell on would devalue them greatly. So I thought why not swap them for equally fabulous but different frocks with fellow women?
In other words, you send us a frock and we will do all the time consuming fiddly bits for you. We will photograph your frock and upload it online so you don't have to. We will also clean and do minor repairs if needed, then store and post it on to another customer. All you need to do is choose a frock from our website to replace the one you sent in. No waiting for someone to want your frock, no photographing, no dodgy photos to look at, no misleading descriptions, no hidden costs. Leave it all to us.
A friend of mine was concerned at the beginning of this year - she had 17 weddings to attend and wondered how she could afford not to wear the same few frocks to all 17 weddings. Now she uses www.londonfrockexchange.com Women want to look gorgeous in an array of different frocks for different events. The London Frock Exchange enables women to do just that, economically and ecologically: Send us a frock you don’t want - Choose one you do. We do the rest giving you more time, more money and more frocks.
Join me and my team in creating the biggest and most glamorous wardrobe in the world.
The Team:
Charlotte Davies, CEO
My career in previously owned designer clothing and vintage began with a stall in the street markets of London many years ago. I had great fun scouring Portobello Road and selling at the vibrant Camden Lock. I have also traded in antiques and collectables. Having studied Fine Art Valuation at university that covered all areas of fine art and design, including fashion and textiles. I went on to open a shop that sold 20th century design, vintage clothing and accessories, supplying one off pieces to movie and magazine stylists. Moving back to London I continued to trade in my first love of fashion at exclusive London fairs where I met my business partner the lovely Sarah. Now with strong competition from the High Street and consumer buying trends moving to on-line, The London Frock Exchange allows me to continue to work with what I love – Pretty Frocks.
Sarah Caverhill, Chief Operations Officer
I have worked in public relations and marketing for seven years, mainly focusing on promoting vintage fashion. Who knew back then it would become the huge phenomenon it has today. Along the way I have been part of exclusive fashion fairs, helped to keep stylists in supplies for Vogue, InStyle and Brides Magazine, to name a few, and generally loved being amongst all the beautiful pieces that I was so lucky to come across on a daily basis. But to me the London Frock Exchange is about more than fabulous designer frocks – it’s about sharing, caring and helping fellow ladies look fabulous at very little expense and bother.
